Communicating Success:
IBI Group’s Inaugural Annual Report

This inaugural annual report for IBI Group was representative of the firm’s new branding and commitment to annuals as premium communication pieces.

Coinciding with the roll-out of their new logo, the theme of ‘transformation’ was carried through all aspects of the publication. As co-designer, illustrator and production coordinator, I insured that graphics and information accurately represented the projects of the firm in a high quality, printed publication.

Process

Coordinating content for this report was challenging in that all content had to be supplied and vetted by multiple parties across the firm globally. With the support of Senior Directors and working with an internal writer and external editor to produce the required text, all project details were captured accurately.

From a design stand point it was equally as challenging to ensure that the large catalogue of projects submitted for the report received equal representation, even when little or no ‘glossy’ project photos were available. My solution of illustrative vignettes featured projects in a conceptual and interesting way. Plotting these projects over maps also provided the benefit of promoting the influential number of projects the firm had done in many major urban centres.

To tie in the overall theme of ‘transformation’ I explored the open and square form of the new logo and translated these into the overarching graphics. A deconstructed cube was used as a framing device and background pattern which transformed in scale, colour, and opacity to created a sense of dynamism.

Working closely with Hemlock Printers’ representative, I oversaw the production of press ready pages ensuring the newly available UV spot gloss varnish was managed correctly in the final submission files.
