‘LOCALLY YOURS’ SIGN

The interior renovations of BCLIQUOR stores in 2022 introduced an updated sign program that included new directional signage for the BC VQA section called “locally yours'“. The signage needed to be more visible and adaptable to varying store bulkheads than the previous signs. I prototyped a sign to bridge existing styles and complement the new program, selecting a script font mimicking the qualities of the sans serifs used in the new font system. I developed plans and scaled mock-ups to provide guidance and inform the decisions of the internal Real Estate and Visual Presentation teams for the creation of the final signage by the vendor.

‘HAND PICKED FOR YOU’ SIGN

To create a contemporary atmosphere for shoppers, I was asked to design a new ‘hand picked for you’ sign that was intended to be a neon style sign. After assessing the materials, production and maintenance costs in consultation with the vendor, the original choice of neon was replaced with a custom solution requiring minimal maintenance using a more sustainable lighting option. My design took into account limitations in manufacturing, including adjusting the scale of letterforms and fine tuning sections of type to ensure they remained legible after lighting effects were applied.

The assessment phase of this project required more due diligence than other signs because of the new material choice, maintenance considerations and the nature of the custom type design.
